Meet Easter Cthulhu...

Meet Easter Cthulhu....the Easter Bunny's very distant, undersea cousin.

Easter Cthulhu also enjoys painting eggs and hiding them around as a wonderful surprise for the unsuspecting human.

Unfortunately, this little guy could not wait and hatched prematurely! Easter Cthulhu was surprised to have his beautiful work shattered by the impatient youngling...scattering decorated egg shells onto the ground and him!

It is alright, though...Easter Cthulhu has plenty of paint left and an unlimited source of eggs beneath the icy waves.  He doesn't mind starting over, because there will be plenty of time for hiding the eggs along the shoreline for unsuspecting children to find.

Who knows?  Maybe even you will find one of his delightful egg surprises!

In all seriousness, I had way too much fun creating this little guy! Everything just fell into place as I was working and I have to admit, he is probably my favorite little Cthulhu I have made so far.  :D  What do you think?

Work Table Wednesday

So, while at work the other day...my mind started to wander towards the upcoming holiday and it hit me!

Easter Cthulhu!

This is a work in progress (WIP) picture, but he's slowly starting to develop...stay tuned as this creation grows, along with his story ;)  If you are good, maybe he will bring you a basket of 'goodies!'

Hamlet Cthulhu

To be....or not to be....there is no question when it comes to Hamlet Cthulhu.  All that is, will not be and all that will be, is not.

Ok, so that's enough Shakespearean butchery from me for one day.  You might be asking, how in the world did you come up with a Hamlet Cthuhlu idea?

I will tell you; gather around the fire and sit a spell.  I was sculpting mini skulls awhile back, which you might remember.  The first one I made, well, it was too big for the miniatures and was cast aside for even smaller, more delicate skulls.  So, here I have this lone, rogue skull, rolling back and forth on my work tray.  He's all painted up, ready to go, but has no ~body~ to go with *insert drum solo for bad pun.*

Then, I look over and I have this little Cthulhu.  He's lonely.  All of his tentacle buddies have left for their new homes and he's just sitting there...giving me the sad, evil glare.  I look between the skull and Cthulhu...Cthulhu and the skull.

*insert cheesy romantic music*

Thus, Cthulhu got a new friend and Mr. Skully got a nice, supportive tentacle arm to hold him securely while he checks out the world.  Seems like the perfect match to me!  What do you think?

What's on the Work Table?

I showed you one of my projects that I have started to play around with....the miniature koi pond pendant.  I'm going to work on a few more this upcoming weekend, or at least that is the plan.

Here are a couple of other projects that you might have seen on my Facebook page:

This is a Tree of Life inspired pendant....I carved the tree into the clay prior to curing it.  I was aiming for an etching style...then finished it with clear resin to cause the colors to really pop.

This is the pendant before resin was added.

This little guy was inspired by Cthulhu...I was trying to go for an old relic discovered, but that didn't really work out for this pendant.  Obviously, not every project is a success or even comes out remotely like you envisioned it...but that's all part of the process.  I'm not displeased by him, but I have ideas on how to make this piece better.

This probably involves not giving Cthulhu freckles in the future...when texturing goes horribly wrong :P

Work Table Wednesday

Remember the miniature koi pond that I made last fall for the state fair?

With the tiny koi, all three of which fit on a single dime?

Well, I couldn't stop just there...I had to expand...or...well, miniaturize!

Three little koi, swimming on a dime...

Three little koi, swimming in their pendant pond...

Three little koi, having such a fun time!

This is only the first of a few koi pond pendants that I plan to make...I am testing out some techniques and finding what looks just right.  I also have a few other ideas, but one project at a time! ;)

Work Table Wednesday

It has been a crazy time...between work and home, I've lost all track of my projects and barely have time to think.  I apologize for the sporadic posting and I will try to rectify this as soon as possible!

I have a couple of projects in the works, but I do not have pictures at the moment, due to dead camera batteries.  It hasn't been my week the last several days. LoL

I promise that I will at least have pics of my projects for the next post, so bear with me!

Meanwhile, enjoy this picture of Arkham from a couple of weeks ago, expressing hid displeasure when all the birds on YouTube flew away.

Also, here is a picture of my new banner (4 feet) and my new business cards with the fancy QR code on the back! Sidenote: these are two photos put on top of one another. I don't have that tiny of a banner or those big business cards! :D
